Clinical Supervision with Candice, Accredited Social Worker
Hi, I'm Candice, an AASW Accredited Social Worker, service leader, sessional academic and field educator at the University of Canberra, busy mum, neurodivergent woman, and the sole practitioner and principal supervisor at Apricity Supervision.
I provide online clinical supervision to social workers and allied health professionals at every career stage — from students and new graduates through to senior practitioners and service leaders — Australia-wide, based from Canberra.
My practice is built on the belief that clinical supervision should be a space of warmth, reflection, and renewal — not just case reviews, compliance, or ticking boxes. Supervision is a reflexive space, and when anchored to our values and ethics as intrinsic motivators, true growth and restoration emerge.
Supervision is about reconnecting with the values that first drew you into this profession, and illuminating what sustains you. When systems and organisations create tension with your moral or ethical framework, distress emerges. When the work feels impossible to do well — or when you feel complicit in harm — clinical supervision becomes the place to pause, to reflect, and to realign with what matters most.
Apricity exists to sustain you in doing the work you always set out to do.
I have been providing clinical supervision to practitioners and students since 2014, and I hold over 15 years of clinical experience across mental health, disability, and justice systems. I hold advanced qualifications in clinical supervision including AASW Advanced Clinical Supervision (Mental Health), as well as extensive training in values-based supervision frameworks. I've walked alongside people living with major mental illness, psychosocial disability, suicidality, complex trauma, and substance use. I've supported families, groups, and communities in times of acute crisis and risk — from post-disaster recovery to frontline responder wellbeing. These experiences have shaped my deep understanding of the ethical challenges practitioners face, and the toll this work can take.
Alongside my private supervision practice, I lecture at the University of Canberra, provide field education supervision to social work students across Australia, and contribute to publications on moral injury and ethical stress in social work.
In clinical supervision, I hold space for both the professional and the personal. My approach is:
Values-based — centred on the principles that ground your practice
Reflective — creating space to process, integrate, and learn
Ethically anchored — navigating complexity without losing integrity
Sustaining — building resilience and purpose to support you in tough systems
I am a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and solution-focused practitioner. My supervision draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and is anchored in your personal and professional values and ethics that underpin your social work practice.
The word Apricity means the warmth of the winter's sun — support and restoration when we are stripped bare, and tools to sustain you as you walk alongside those you serve in the toughest of systems.

Values-based supervision goes beyond case discussion and compliance. It’s a reflective, ethical space where you can reconnect with the values that ground your practice, process the impact of your work, and build resilience for the long term.
I provide supervision to social workers and allied health professionals at all career stages — from students and new graduates through to senior practitioners and leaders. I also work with organisations seeking reflective supervision for teams or services. Over the years I have supervised nurses, psychologists, support coordinators, counsellors, professionals in leadership roles... that's the wonderful thing about critically reflecting on our values in practice - we've all got them, and we are all just looking to live a life where we are connected to our values base.
Frequency varies depending on your needs, workplace requirements, and professional stage. Many practitioners choose monthly sessions, while others meet more frequently during times of change or high stress. I keep availability aside each week for urgent needs, so I can support you through your toughest times. Many of my supervisees book in monthly, and book a year in advance to ensure continuity, while others like to book in the next available session as they need it. It's all up to you!
